RESULTS

Payers

Clinical AI for Payment Accuracy & UM Automation

Architected the expansion of an early-stage ML model into a proprietary clinical intelligence platform enabling enterprise-scale automation across medical necessity review, payment integrity, UM, case management and Pharmacy UM.
• Unified claims, codes, clinical notes, medical history, patient/provider data, and historical determinations for deep learning on 360° real-world evidence.
• Developed proprietary computational linguistics models composing a mult-layered NLP pipeline to extract and structure unstructured clinical evidence from EHR notes, enabling high-confidence, explainable Clinical AI - automating and accelerating evidence-based decisions, revenue cycle and payer operations.
Integrated with provider EHR workflows and national exchange infrastructure completely eliminating documentation chase and manual burden at the point of care.
• Delivered nearly 90% faster TAT, 60% lower clinical review costs, fewer appeals/P2Ps, and a 33% improvement in provider satisfaction (CAHPS).
Scaled confidentially across a national production footprint, reaching appx. 40% of U.S. patients while preserving strategic IP and payer competitive advantage.
• Expanded into a foundational enterprise AI architecture for payer operations beyond clinical review by making system components available as microservices to support the payer enterprise including pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, care management, risk adjustment, and population health.

Providers

Agentic AI: Oncology DX, Clinical Workflow & Clinical Trials

Led data science and software engineering teams in a unique joint innovation program spanning a major health system, NCI-designated cancer research institute, and a mission-critical enterprise frontier AI company with deep roots in defense, banking, and regulated communications intelligence.

• Converted an early research concept into a multi-enterprise clinical AI platform supporting oncology care delivery, research operations, and trial activation.

• Advanced rapid-cycle experimentation, agile clinical research, and test-driven development from early POCs to a live MVP in six months and enterprise adoption within one year.

• Developed ML/NLP models to augment oncology diagnostics, clinical workflow automation, patient identification, care coordination, and clinical trial matching.

• Embedded AI into clinician workflows, capturing expert feedback in real time to continuously improve model performance and clinical relevance.

• Transformed an early AI capabilities into a productized healthcare AI platform for oncology diagnostics, clinical workflow, and clinical trial operations.

• Commercialized the platform for scale, extensibility, interoperability, and turnkey remote API deployment across enterprise environments.

• Within two years, the platform touched more than 15% of all U.S. cancer diagnoses.

Pharma & Life Sciences

Enterprise AI Architecture & Transformation

• Conceived and architected an AI-native pharmacovigilance platform for a top 5 global pharmaceutical company -- years before widespread AI adoption in a closed RFP. Selected as an external AI technology vendor, the design transformed a labor-intensive, fragmented and labor-intensive AERS database into a highly automated, intelligence-driven patient-safety platform.

• Assembled and led data science and engineering teams to rapidly build a working end-to-end prototype in less than 3 months, featuring multimodal ingestion, clinical language intelligence, knowledge representation, advanced NLP, human-in-the-loop validation, model governance, signal detection, and regulatory workflows. This was in 2018, anticipating today's leading pharmaceutical AI capabilities.

• Owned the complete engagement for the technology vendor - from solution design to proposal, pitch and P&L. Sole responsibility for the commercial business case, pricing, staffing, resource requirements, productization, financial projections and, ultimately, the successful delivery of the platform to production.

• The architecture and capability foundation delivered directly informed the pharma giant's long-term roadmap and AI-enabled patient safety strategy.

Patients

Patient Experience, Big Data & Technology

• Founded Curate Health and launched SmartPatient, an early mobile patient-reported outcomes and real-world evidence platform capturing patient feedback in real time. Named a Top 10 Healthcare Startup of 2013 by Health 2.0. Featured in Forbes, TechCrunch, and MedCity News; achieved a successful exit.

• SmartPatient connected patient-generated data with EHR workflows, using NLP and machine learning to identify patient experience issues, adverse events, and opportunities to improve care delivery—among the early applications of NLP/ML to patient experience and clinical quality.

• Established and led Press Ganey's Knowledge Management function within R&D, creating an early enterprise knowledge-intelligence capability that combined proprietary ontology, structured knowledge, research analytics, expert systems, and a private client knowledge network.

•Designed and led large-scale retrospective studies of patient experience and healthcare quality, routinely analyzing 1M+ patient records to create actionable insights as well as leverage into thought leadership.

• Architected and launched the “Solutions” platform, converting proprietary data and research into a scalable knowledge infrastructure that enabled Press Ganey's first consulting business.
